Q: If you could have one superpower, what would you choose and why?

A: To fly. It's a much more efficient way to travel, super fun, and gives you tons of freedom. There’s no traffic and you have a bird’s eye view of everything.

Q: What do you like best about the work that you do?

A: Being able to enhance the client's retirement experience. We can take the uncertainty out of the client's retirement and help them create a clear picture of their future. After we remove the uncertainty, we can secure a safe retirement for them and they know where they are every step of the way, no matter what their net worth is.

Q: What’s your biggest professional challenge?

A: Overcoming the stigma of the financial industry and financial planners. Another challenge is changing a client's preconceived mentality about retirement planning. When someone believes that retirement planning is simply a stack of brokerage statements, a fair amount of education goes into breaking down the "old mentality" and bringing them in a different direction. We want clients to understand that financial planning and retirement planning isn't a single component. It includes a multi-faceted plan.

Q: What advice do you have for someone considering joining the industry?

A: Get in front of as many people as possible. Educate yourself on planning strategies and techniques that separate your practice from the masses. Offer services that enhance your position. Focus on details that get you in front of clients. Join a group that can offer advanced planning advice so you are enabled to spend your time getting in front of clients and can make use of the group’s expertise and knowledge.

Q: How has The Arrow Group impacted your business?

A: It has changed my focus on planning. I’m not focusing on selling a product and gathering assets. But rather on building an efficient and comprehensive plan using the Covisum tools. In order to enhance the client's position, I look at Social Security planning as the foundation of their income plan and add analyzing the interactions between different tax provisions and different types of retirement income.
